A Closer Look at What’s New

Seamless M-Bus to Modbus Data Transmission

The RutOS version 7.15 introduces a new M-Bus to Modbus converter, enabling data collected from M-Bus sensors to be transmitted using the Modbus protocol. Consequently, this improvement facilitates communication, reducing integration complexity and accelerating deployment in industrial environments.

Expanded List of Data to Server Plugins

Enhance your IoT solution's data handling with newly supported data to server plugins. The addition of SMS, I/O, and GPS plugins enables more diverse data input, while expanded server-side options – including SMS, FTP, Lua script, SMTP, and socket plugins – offer greater flexibility in data delivery.

Additionally, the ISO 8601 time format support has been added to data to server plugins, ensuring standardized and precise timestamping across all transmitted data.

Voice Call Actions in Event Juggler

Designed to enhance automation in your IoT solutions, Event Juggler enables devices to execute predefined actions based on specific system events. This powerful feature reacts to real-time triggers, allowing for flexible and efficient event management across diverse operational scenarios.

From now on, Event Juggler supports automated voice call actions, enabling faster response to critical events in your IoT solutions. Voice calls can be triggered by predefined system conditions, providing a direct and immediate communication channel for alerts and escalations.

With this feature, you can receive automated phone calls triggered by specific device events, such as system logs, configuration changes, input/output activity, GPS events, and more. Previously, notifications were limited to SMS and email. Now, the addition of voice calls ensures that critical events are noticed immediately, enhancing responsiveness, streamlining operations, and strengthening overall system resilience.

New BACnet Connection Options

As part of the latest improvements, Building Automation and Control Network (BACnet) now supports USB, making it possible to connect devices using a USB adapter. In addition, added IP-to-IP support allows devices to communicate directly over the IP protocol.

UI/UX Updates: Refined Design for Elevated Experience

Mobile Data Usage Graphs

Managing mobile connectivity in your IoT solutions just got easier with new improvements to the Mobile Usage graph. You can now select your preferred measurement units for displaying consumed data, allowing for clearer interpretation based on your needs. Additionally, the graph now includes statistical insights and consumption forecasts, giving you a smarter way to monitor and plan data usage over time.

WebUI Improvements

Your IoT solutions now benefit from a redesigned multi-WAN WebUI page, featuring clearer status indicators and expanded configuration options for easier network infrastructure management. Error messages in the Network → WAN/LAN sections have been improved as well, providing more detailed feedback to support faster troubleshooting.

Another key improvement is that the WebUI now alerts you to expired or soon-to-expire certificates, helping you stay ahead of critical security tasks.

Troubleshooting & Certificates pages

The troubleshooting and certificates pages have been redesigned to improve overall user experience, making it easier to navigate and understand key diagnostic information. This update enhances the usability of your IoT solutions by streamlining routine tasks and reducing the time needed to access critical system insights.

Security Updates: Built-In Protection

HTTPS Enabled by Default for WebUI Access

You can never be too secure, that’s why HTTPS is now enabled by default for all network devices running on RutOS. With encrypted access to the WebUI available out of the box, the risk of unauthorized interception is reduced, ensuring secure device management from the very first connection.

Kernel Updates for Improved Security & Stability

We've upgraded to the kernel version 6.6.87 across a broad range of devices to deliver improved performance, enhanced network security, and greater compatibility with the latest technologies. This update applies to the OTD500 5G router, TAP200 access point, as well as RUTX and RUTM-series devices.

Enhanced VPN Security & Protocol Support

The IPsec certificates can now be stored in the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip on supported devices – offering hardware-level protection for sensitive credentials. Added support for IPv6 over L2TP allows IPv6 traffic to pass securely through L2TP tunnels, improving compatibility with modern network infrastructures.
