What’s New in the Pursuit of Excellence?

Docker WebUI

With RutOS 7.16, managing containerised applications becomes significantly more intuitive on the RUTC50 5G routers, thanks to the dedicated Docker WebUI page. This new interface allows users to configure and control Docker containers directly through the 5G routers’ web interface, eliminating the need for command-line access or external tools.

Whether your IoT solution includes deploying lightweight services, automating tasks, or isolating environments for custom applications, the WebUI provides clear visibility into your container setup, streamlining development and deployment in edge computing scenarios.

Updated Internal API Optimisation

RutOS 7.16 introduces significant performance improvements to the internal API, enhancing the responsiveness and efficiency of interactions between the device and external systems. It results in a noticeably smoother experience when using Remote Management System (RMS), third-party cloud platforms, or custom automation scripts running locally on the device.

With reduced latency and streamlined data handling, the updated API ensures faster command execution and more reliable integration across a wide range of IoT solutions, whether you're managing a single device or orchestrating a complex, distributed network.

Protocol Converter Updates

The latest RutOS release introduces three protocol converter updates: Modbus to DNP3, M-Bus to SNMP, and Modbus to SNMP. These enhancements enable seamless communication between devices and systems, significantly reducing integration complexity in industrial environments.

A Smoother Experience: UI-UX Updates

Power Control Page

The Power Control page on ATRM50 5G router has been redesigned for better clarity and ease of use. With improved layout and navigation, managing power settings is now quicker, more intuitive, and better aligned with real-world deployment needs.

Improved SSID Card Layout

The SSID cards in Network → Wireless have been redesigned with a four-column layout, dividing key information into clearer, more manageable sections. The new visual improvement makes it easier to review and configure multiple SSIDs at a glance, especially when working with complex wireless IoT solutions.

Updated eSIMTM Profile Handling

RutOS 7.16 now allows devices to remain on eSIM even after the last active profile is deleted, instead of automatically switching to the physical SIM. It provides greater control over SIM behaviour and prevents unintended failovers in custom connectivity setups.

Built for Resilience: Security Updates

OpenConnect Certificate Authentication

The latest version of RutOS enhances OpenConnect VPN security by adding support for certificate-based authentication. Your IoT solutions will receive a more robust and flexible alternative to traditional credentials, enabling stronger identity verification and easier integration with enterprise-grade security infrastructures.

TPM 2.0 Key Storage Integration

With the latest update, OpenConnect, OpenVPN, and Stunnel now support storing private keys in the TPM 2.0 module on compatible devices. This hardware-backed key storage enhances security by keeping sensitive cryptographic material isolated from the operating system, significantly reducing the risk of key extraction or tampering.
