New Modbus TCP/IP Master (Client) functionality

We are glad to announce that from now on, our RUT9 series devices will have Modbus TCP/IP Master (Client) functionality (RUT2 series and RUTX series coming soon)! This industrial protocol has become a de facto standard communication protocol since its inception in 1979 and now is considered industry standard for connecting industrial electronic devices.
Modbus enables communication among many devices connected to the same network, for example, a system that measures temperature and humidity and communicates the results to a computer. It is often used to connect a supervisory computer with a remote terminal unit (RTU) in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
We would like to outline three main areas where this functionality will help solutions of our partners:
- To periodically read from or write information to Modbus slave devices, that are connected to Teltonika Networks RUT via Modbus TCP/IP.
- To send data gathered from Modbus slave devices to remote HTTP/HTTPS server. JSON data structure and parameters sent can be freely configured in the WebUI of Teltonika Networks RutOS.
- To configure alarms that will trigger preconfigured actions such as sending SMS, activating specific digital/relay outputs on Teltonika Networks RUT or sending Modbus request to Modbus slave devices when alarm conditions are met (for example specific client device register value falls below configured alarm value).
We are always paying close attention to the feedback of our partners and we are certain that this new functionality will strengthen our position in industrial connectivity field even more.
