We have invested all our experience and your feedback into this and are proudly introducing the new TRB2 series gateways. TRB2 series will include two gateways – TRB245 and TRB255, with many different interfaces, including serial, like RS232, RS485, Ethernet, and even multiple Inputs / Outputs. Their size, performance, and versatility will strengthen our positions in the Industrial IoT connectivity segment even more. TRB2 series devices will be competitive across various applications, like HMI, PLC, or robotics connectivity, as well as remote telemetry, management, and control. Both versions have GNSS (GPS) for location services or time synchronization. Furthermore, TRB2 devices come with Dual SIM functionality to offer the most connection reliability. Finally, these gateways are powered by our RutOS, which is full of essential and professional security features! The only difference between these two latest products is cellular communication technology.
Most of Teltonika Networks products are based on 4G LTE technology, launching these new products; we did not lose this focus because of 4G LTE availability and performance. However, there is another segment with growing demand, and it is LPWAN. This is why we have introduced two devices, out of which one is focused on LPWAN with NB-IoT, LTE CAT M1, and 2G connectivity types. TRB245 comes with 4G LTE (CAT4) module, which is backwards compatible with 3G and 2G. It offers straightforward and robust connectivity with speeds up to 150 Mbps and widespread availability of 4G around the world. TRB255 features multiple LPWAN connectivity options, including NB-IoT, LTE Cat M1, and is also backwards compatible with 2G. This device offers an excellent opportunity to deploy today, using 2G and overtime switch to new LPWAN standards to ensure the longevity of the solution.
It is important to mention our reasons behind this product diversification. The global shutdown of 3G networks is going to affect a lot of currently deployed infrastructure. Many operators across the globe have turned off 3G already or planning to turn it off in the very near future. While 2G is predicted to be available until 2025, at least in Europe, according to Emnify.That’s why both TRB2 products have an option of 2G connectivity to ensure you can deploy new solutions with TRB2 or update legacy infrastructure and guarantee connectivity for many years to come without changing the communications device.
Serial interfaces – RS232 & RS485
One of the key points that make TRB2 gateways an ideal choice for industrial applications is that both of them have serial interfaces RS232 and RS485. These serial interfaces are very popular, especially when legacy devices need to be connected. Inputs and Outputs
TRB2 series gateways are equipped with four configurable I/O elements, out of which three are digital and one analog input. This device offers you increased versatility because the three configurable Digital I/Os can act as DI (logic low/high) or open collector outputs. Usually, I/Os are used for triggering actions, such as entry barrier control, temperature or humidity sensors, panic buttons. Besides, it is very useful to use I/O functionality for equipment monitoring and alert reporting, which can be triggered by SMS or phone call.
Remote monitoring and management
With all these features in mind, TRB2 series gateways are fully compatible with our powerful Remote Management System (RMS). With it, you can not only configure TRB2 devices in bulk or update their firmware, but also access and control all smart devices connected to TRB2 – remotely. Since the main focus of TRB2 series gateways is the industry and industrial machinery, it is necessary to have a possibility to reach them remotely and access their WebUI or CLI. With the help of RMS, these gateways generate a direct link between the HQ control room and the machinery. RMS helps to stay in control of the infrastructure that is thousands of miles away while reducing operating costs with this remote management solution.
