The enhanced network usage feature provides detailed monitoring of DHCP clients, including source IPs, upload and download volumes, and the number of active connections. This level of insight enables more precise bandwidth management, enforces usage policies, and ensures greater efficiency across your IoT solutions.

AWS IoT Core support

Seamless integration with cloud platforms is critical for modern IoT solutions – and RutOS version 7.14 takes another step forward with native support for AWS IoT Core Fleet Provisioning. This feature enables multiple networking devices to authenticate and connect using a shared provisioning template, significantly accelerating and simplifying large-scale deployments.

To improve real-time visibility, a new status indicator has been introduced, showing whether the AWS IoT Core instance is connecting, active, or disconnected. These additions make onboarding faster, diagnostics clearer, and cloud-based IoT solutions more efficient to manage at scale.

Enhanced VPN functionality for greater flexibility

Secure connectivity is at the core of resilient IoT solutions, and the latest RutOS update expands VPN functionality to offer even greater control and compatibility. From now on, L2TP includes full IPv6 support, ensuring better alignment with modern networking standards.

Advanced configuration options have been added to PPTP VPN, including MPPE encryption, MPPE key length settings, and up to 15 customizable parameters. These enhancements are ideal for tailoring secure tunnels to meet precise deployment needs.

In response to a client request, OpenVPN support has also been extended to TAP100 and TAP200 access points, further strengthening secure connectivity. These updates ensure your IoT solutions remain adaptable, secure, and ready for any environment!

Improved protocol support for smarter Integrations

As IoT solutions grow more advanced, seamless communication between systems becomes essential. To support this, the latest update introduces several key protocol enhancements designed to simplify integration and expand functionality.

Firstly, MQTT Bridge now supports version 5, offering richer message formatting, improved error handling, and broader compatibility with modern MQTT brokers. This allows for more reliable data exchange and better interoperability in distributed IoT solutions.

Secondly, Modbus TCP over serial gateway has also been upgraded with broadcast support, enabling simultaneous command delivery to all connected Modbus RTU devices – a major efficiency gains in industrial automation and monitoring applications.

Lastly, a new Bluetooth API endpoint gives developers direct access to data from connected Bluetooth devices, streamlining integration with cloud platforms and custom applications.

The dynamic routes UI table has been redesigned for better clarity and usability. For teams managing large-scale networks within complex IoT solutions, this update makes configuring routes more straightforward and efficient.

Wi-Fi client standards

A new WebUI enhancement now shows which Wi-Fi standard each connected client is using. This improvement helps administrators troubleshoot compatibility issues in IoT solutions that rely on a wide variety of wireless devices.

eSIM profile management interface

Managing eSIM profiles is now clearer and more secure. The new “Enabled” button highlights enabled profile in green and includes a confirmation prompt – a valuable enhancement for mobile-first deployments, particularly in distributed IoT solutions.

Ukrainian language support

To support a broader user base, RutOS version 7.14 introduces Ukrainian language support for the WebUI. This update improves accessibility for teams working on region-specific network infrastructure.

Firmware download

A direct firmware download link is now available in the system interface, simplifying the update process and saving time during maintenance.

Mobile & SMS utilities

Managing Mobile Utilities is now faster and more intuitive. A global authorisation toggle allows batch changes across all SMS and Call Utility rules, while new tooltips offer immediate guidance – key advantages for engineers overseeing remote device fleets in large-scale IoT solutions.

Prevention in action: Security updates

Read-only root filesystem for maximum reliability

Most notably, the root filesystem is now set to read-only by default. This change protects critical system files from unauthorised or accidental modifications, helping maintain long-term device stability.

While standard configurations remain unaffected, advanced users who require more flexibility will still be able to implement custom firmware solutions.

Confirmation codes for eSIM profile downloads

To further enhance network security, some eSIM profiles come with a built-in requirement for a confirmation code during the download process. This added layer of authentication is defined by the profile itself or the issuing provider, making it especially valuable in IoT solutions where SIM access must be tightly controlled.
