The first of Teltonika’s entries into the arena of 5G networking devices have been an overwhelming success.

The RUTX50 5G cellular router is already providing cutting-edge industrial IoT solutions with 5G connectivity worldwide, as is the TRB500 gateway. The RUTM50 5G cellular router has seen similar success in the North American market and has recently landed in Japan and other regions to make a name for itself there.

Today, we’re excited to introduce a new contender, one that builds upon its 5G siblings’ momentum and brings powerful wireless capabilities to the IoT table: the RUTC50 wireless 5G router.

C for the Wireless Champion

The RUTC50 features dual-band Wi-Fi 6 with multi-user MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) technology. Wi-Fi 6, also known as 802.11ax, operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, while multi-user MIMO allows for multipath wireless communication by leveraging multiple users as transmission resources.

The result is that the wireless network enabled by the RUTC50 5G router is a particularly unique type of powerhouse. The device can support up to 512 users, making it perfect for large-scale solutions with a larger number of wirelessly connected end devices.

For example, this 5G wireless router is an excellent choice for public transportation solutions, where reliable wireless connectivity is needed for personnel, passengers, and on-board devices such as ticketing terminals. The RUTC50 will also excel in smart city applications, such as fleets of CCTV cameras, traffic management systems, billboards, retail applications, and enterprises looking to secure their future connectivity.

An application worth exploring in more detail is large-scale pop-up events, such as international auto shows. The larger the event, the higher its network complexity. This is due to hundreds of end devices demanding reliable connectivity with high throughput, low latency, and robust wireless capabilities supporting all devices at once. For the RUTC50, however, this is child’s play. Click the topology to learn more!

C for Critical Connectivity

Empowering such multi-user networks, the RUTC50 5G router features support of both SA and NSA 5G architectures and breakneck cellular speeds of up to 3.4 Gbps, enabling unparallel data transmission.

In case 5G coverage isn’t available in any particular area, the RUTC50 is also backward compatible with 4G (Cat 20) and 3G, ensuring high throughput and low latency even in unfavourable environmental conditions.

Safeguarding this stellar connectivity is this 5G router’s network redundancy features. Equipped with two SIM card slots, the RUTC50 boasts auto-failover, backup WAN, and other switching scenarios meant to maintain an uninterrupted connection – no matter what.

C for Crucial Communication

In terms of interfaces, the RUTC50 features five Gigabit RJ45 ports, a digital input, a digital output, and a USB-A port. The latter can be used as a substitute serial port to connect to legacy devices, helping the router bridge the connectivity of the future with equipment of the past.

Speaking of GNSS, this 5G router is equipped with all the key precise location services you know and love, including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS.

What about protocols? Similar to other Teltonika 5G routers, the RUTC50’s list of supported protocols is extra-long, and includes industry darlings like Modbus TCP, MQTT, SMNP, and HTTP.

Of course, all communications of this 5G Wi-Fi router are protected by its robust cybersecurity profile, which includes an integrated firewall, multiple authentication and encryption methods, port and tag-based VLAN separation, and support of key industrial VPN services such as ZeroTier, WireGuard, Stunnel, and IPsec.

C for Comprehensive Capabilities

While we don’t always delve too deep into the processing power of any given device, the RUTC50 calls for a change in habits. Its dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU is a true marvel to behold and is an important facet of the 5G router’s multi-user capabilities.

The device itself is housed in anodised aluminium housing and panels and can operate in temperatures between -40 °C to 75 °C. It measures 103.4 x 42.6 x 130.4 mm and weighs 452 g

As you can expect, the RUTC50 fully compatible with Teltonika’s Remote Management System (RMS), allowing for remote firmware updates and troubleshooting, configurable custom alerts and automation, and many other remote management, monitoring, and access capabilities.

In addition to RMS, this 5G router also supports other cloud solutions for remote management, including FOTA, Azure IoT Hub, Cloud of Things, Cumulocity, and ThingWorx.

C for Yourself
